Reese Becker

Hello, and salutations.

You may have seen my pieces recently in this fine publication and scratched your head wondering who in the world this new person is. Well, let me help you with that.

I’m Reese Becker, a native of Norfolk, Virginia, and I’m here in Iola to tell the stories of your kids, cousins, grandkids and other relatives playing sports in the area.

Prior to coming to Iola, I covered high school sports in Virginia, telling the stories of young athletes across my home state for three years while covering the Old Dominion Monarchs college football program for three seasons.

I am also a newly minted Football Writers Association of America award winner.

I host a recruiting seminar every Wednesday on Twitter along with multiple guests ranging from other journalists, to the parents of major college football recruits. I think a large part of my job as a sports journalist is doing whatever I can to help the athletes I cover make it to the next level if they have those goals.

I am very approachable according to most people so if you see me around town, feel free to say hello.

My Twitter handle is
@ReeseBecker and I am always open to messages and any comments about how we can make this the best prep sports coverage in America.
