Golf round-up: Yates Center wins TRL meet, Cubs take third at TVL

Humboldt and Yates Center golf competed in their league meets on Monday before the bad weather blew in later that evening. 

The Cubs took third at the Tri-Valley League meet, which they hosted at Allen County Country Club, and missed second by just two strokes. 

Ryan Sellman led the way with a third-place finish, shooting an 81. 

Drake Hottenstien shot a 99, Aiden Johnson a 113, Reid Smith a 114, Roni Bulk a 116 and Tanner Church a 125. 

Tanner Wells of Eureka was the tournament winner with a 79. 

Meanwhile, Yates Center traveled to Sugar Valley Golf Resort in Mound City and came away with a first-place finish marking a perfect season for the Wildcats. 

Junior Reece Solander won the meet with a 75 followed by a 78 by sophomore Easton Reynolds who finished second. 

Jack King took fifth with an 85 and Aaron King took seventh with a 99. Addison Solander and Wyatt Buchanan finished 16th and 20th overall. 

The Wildcats and Cubs will travel to Woodland Hills Golf Course in Fort Scott for the 2A Regional Meet hosted by Uniontown on Monday to decide who gets to go to Hesston for state.
