Iola High’s freshmen boys basketball team finished their season with an impressive 14-2 record.
It was the most wins that the freshman team has ever had. It was also the second year in a row the team won the Iola Freshmen Basketball Tournament.
Each of the team’s losses came by single digits. Iola lost to Chanute Jan. 30 38-32.
On Feb. 17, the freshmen Mustangs lost to Osawatomie by one-point, 52-51. Iola was down two late, but Osawatomie made a basket to go up four points. Isaac Vink hit a 3-pointer to bring the game to within one point. An Iola turnover sealed that game for Osawatomie.
