Folk Jr. earns second straight win

Humboldt Speedway —With temperatures heating up over the midwest, so did action at Humboldt Speedway on Friday night. Five classes competed under the banner of Whelen All American / NASCAR sanction. In Home Savings Bank Factory Stocks Derrek Wilson took advantage of his pole position starting spot and paced every lap on his way to his fourth A-Feature win of the year and more importantly regain his points lead on the 2019 Season. Jacob Ellison, Wayne Johnson, Jon Westhoff, and Krew Walburn completed the top five. Heat Race wins went to Wilson and Westhoff.

In Tumbleweed Music Festival Street Stocks, Cleveland, Missouri’s Devin Irvin used patience to outduel Humboldt’s Nick Fritch and pick up his first win on the season at Humboldt Speedway. Irvin, starting on the pole, lost the lead early to Fritch who opened a sizable advantage before Irvin reeled in the leader with two laps to go. Irvin then held off Fritch for the win. Points leader Dalton Garrison, Scott Lucke and Shane Cook rounded out the top five. Heat Race wins went to Irvin and Fritch.

Chanute’s Tyler Kidwell picked up his second win of the year in Ray’s Metal Depot NASCAR B Mods. Kidwell, starting outside the pole, jumped out to the lead and held off current points leader Andy Bryant for the win. Clint Johnson, Riley Whitworth, and Brian McGowen made up the remainder of the top five. Heat Race wins went to Dennis Bishop, Andy Bryant, and Clint Johnson.

Jesse Folk Jr., from Iola, made it two in a row in the Love’s Travel Stops Midwest Mods. Folk held off Trevor Vann and Rob Muilenburg and led every lap in his win. Jackson McGowen and Krew Walburn completed the top five. Heat Race wins went to Vann and Folk.

In the night’s final feature, the O’Reilly Auto Parts Sport Compacts, Overbrook, Kansas ace Barry Luthi picked up win number four on the 2019 season, holding off Devin Schmidt and Brandon Vink. Heat Race wins went to Luthi and Vink.
