Allen Community College’s Firestarters dance team earned the first runner-up trophy at the American Dance/Drill Team Collegiate Championship March 24-25 in Denton, Texas. The Firestarters’ hip-hop routine scored 283 points out of a possible 300 points. Members of the team are (left to right) front row, Mariah Anstaett and Bethany Myers; back row, Vanessa Heinen, Ashley Owens, Kayla Callahan, Eve Jefferis and Jenna Moore. The team worked six weeks to perfect the two-minute routine of high energy and advanced skills, ACC Dance/Cheer coach Mindy Covey said. The routine was choreographed by assistant coach Rondell Stowe, a former Firestarter.
