Iola High’s junior varsity softball team forged an 11-11 tie in six innings then lost 17-5 at home Tuesday.
Parsons High’s Vikings pushed out to a 10-2 lead in the first game at Riverside Park. The Fillies struck for five runs in the bottom of the fourth and three in the fifth to tie the game at 10-10.
Each team scored a run in the sixth inning. The game ended in a tie.
Baylea Thompson pitched for Iola. Tessa Rowe hammered three singles and a triple. Chanel Coyne hit three singles. Shelby Reno tripled. Hitting a single each were Katie Shields, Kylee Classen and Baleigh Seeber.
Parsons led 7-4 after the first inning of the second game. The Vikings plated 10 runs in the second and held the Fillies to one run in the inning. Iola lost 17-5.
Rowe hit a solo home run for Iola. Shields had two singles. Hitting a single each were Reno, Brianna LaRue and Coyne.
