Fillies volleyball wraps up regular season

RICHMOND — All three of Iola’s volleyball squads — varsity, JV and freshmen — hit the road Tuesday and faced off against Central Heights and Anderson County in the final regular-season matches of the year.
Iola’s varsity team lost to Central Heights (25-20, 25-13) and Anderson County (25-14, 25-19).
Ashlie Shields led the Fillies with 10 kills.
Piper Moore finished with the most assists with eight in the two matches.
The Fillies JV team lost both of its matches.
Against Central Heights, Iola lost in three sets (25-14, 19-25, 15-9).
Against Anderson County, Iola lost in two sets (31-29, 25-21).
At the end of the JV team’s two matches, Colbi Riley had a team-high 10 kills, seven of which came in the two-set match against Anderson County. Riley also recorded the most blocks on the team with five.
No other Fillies player had more than three.
Riley also led the team with three assists.
Riley Murry finished second for Iola with seven kills and two assists.
The freshman team found more success in its last two contests of the season by picking up one win and finishing first among all freshman Pioneer League teams with a 22-14 overall record and a 10-2 conference record.
Against Central Heights, Iola won in two sets (25-7, 25-18). Against Anderson County, Iola lost in two sets (25-12, 25-18).
