Fillies take road sweep

ALTAMONT — Iola High’s varsity volleyball team traveled to Labette County High School Thursday and came home with two wins in two matches.
The Fillies beat Coffeyville 25-17 and 25-8. Addie Haar had two kills. Ashlie Shields had an ace. Emery Driskel recorded five kills. Emma Piazza had three aces, five kills and two assists. Kyra Moore had three kills and seven assists. Mikaela Platt had two kills. Sydney Wade had a kill and an assist. Toni Macha had two aces and a kill.
Iola also beat Labette 25-14 and 25-13. Haar had nine kills. Shields had an ace, two kills and an assist. Driskel had two aces and a kill. Piazza had 13 assists. Moore had nine kills and an assist. Platt and Wade each had a kill. Macha had an ace.
“It’s nice to play SEK teams and get some different competition,” coach Emily Sigg said. “I was happy with how things went tonight and glad we ended up with two wins.”
Iola travels to Central Heights on Tuesday.
