Stop us if you’ve heard this before.

Iola High’s Fillies, whose season already has been disrupted by the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, are idle once again.

The girls learned Monday afternoon they’d be unable to play that evening at Pittsburg-St. Mary’s Colgan because of a positive COVID-19 diagnosis among the Fillies.

Iola also will not play at home Friday against Wellsville, head coach Kelsey Johnson said.

The Fillies were required to sit out the first two weeks of the season because of exposure to the coronavirus.

With this week’s disruption, the Fillies will have played only three of a possible eight games on their schedule.

“It makes me sick for the girls every time we get shut down,” Johnson said. “They all work so hard, and we just can’t get into a rhythm.”
