Fillies’ JV finishes fourth

INDEPENDENCE — Taking fourth place at the Independence High Junior Varsity Invitational, Iola High’s Fillies sported a 2-2 record.
Iola lost to Pittsburg 25-15, 25-15 then won its next two matches in pool play. The Fillies beat Columbus 25-16, 25-18 and Fort Scott No. 2 25-19, 25-20.
Parsons defeated Iola 25-16, 25-22.
Tori Snavely was credited with 32 set assists plus had 12 digs and two kills. Katie Thompson downed 16 kills and had two solo blocks at the net. Celeste Ambrose had 14 kills and four solo blocks.
Emma Sigg had nine kills while Libby Shay had four kills and two solo blocks. Hannah Barclay had two kills and one solo block and Alyssa Zimmerman had two kills.
Zimmerman served eight aces on the day. Thompson had five ace serves while Shay and Ambrose each had four. Sigg had two aces.
Thompson had 22 digs followed by 17 from Zimmerman, 13 by Shay, 11 by Sigg, nine by Ambrose, six by Barclay and one by Essence Owens.
