Fillies host substate game; Mustangs are seeded No. 8

Iola High’s Fillies (11-8) earned the fourth seed in next week’s Kansas Class 4A Substate Basketball Tournament. They will host a first-round game at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
A familiar opponent comes to town — Fort Scott High’s Tigers (9-10). The Southeast Kansas League teams will face off for the third time this season, each with a win.
Iola High’s Mustangs (1-18) travel Monday night to take on top-seeded Ottawa High’s Cyclones (16-3). Tipoff is at 7 p.m.
For substate tournament games, admission prices are set by Kansas State High School Activities Association. No school or league passes are honored at home or at Paola High School, which is hosting the semifinals and finals Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Admission prices for first-round games are $5 for adults and $4 for children (K-12). Prekindergarten age children are admitted free.
For semifinals and championship games at Paola, admission prices are $6 for adults and $5 for children (K-12).
All the boys’ first-round  games are Monday. Winners advance to semifinal games at Paola Thursday. The championship game is 7:30 p.m. Saturday.
On the Mustangs’ side of the bracket, No. 4 Fort Scott (10-9) hosts No. 5 Louisburg (10-9). Osa-watomie is the No. 2 seed and entertains No. 7 Prairie View (4-15). Paola (12-7) is seeded third and hosts No. 6 Anderson County (7-13)
For the girls, Ottawa is the No. 1 seed at 15-4 and plays No. 8 Anderson  County (2-18) Tuesday.  The winner faces the winner of the Iola-Fort Scott game.
Osawatomie (12-6) is seeded second and plays No. 7 Paola (8-11). Prairie View (12-7) is the No. 3 seed and hosts Louisburg (9-10), sixth seeded.
All the girls’ games are Tuesday night. Winners advance to semifinals Friday at Paola. The championship game is at 6 p.m. Saturday.
Champions advance to the 2011 Kansas Class 4A State Basketball Tournaments in Salina March 9-12 at the Bicentennial Center.
