RICHMOND — Iola High’s volleyball team went winless on the night Tuesday, dropping a pair of matches at Central Heights’ triangular meet.
The Fillies fell to Wellsville in straight sets, 25-20, 25-15, and to host Central Heights, 25-17, 25-23.
Emery Driskel led Iola in the loss to Wellsville with four kills, eight solo blocks and 17 digs, while Emma Piazza had three kills and nine digs. Kyra Moore had seven assists and nine digs.
Driskel’s nine kills paced the Fillies against Central Heights. She also had 21 digs and five assisted blocks. Piazza added four kills. Moore had nine assists. Hannah Endicott had 17 digs. Emma Sigg, Moore and Piazza added 13 digs apiece.
The losses drop the Fillies to 11-17 on the season. Iola resumes action Saturday in Garnett at the Anderson County Invitational Tournament. Action begins at 9 a.m.
THE FILLIES freshmen picked up a pair of scintillating victories. Iola edged Wellsville, 25-23, 27-25, then came back to knock off Central Heights, 22-25, 25-11, 15-6.
Jadyn Sigg and Alexis Heslop led the way in serving, head coach Jeff Fehr said. Sydney Wade was tops in assists. Toni Macha, Riley Murry and Brooklyn Storrer led in kills.
Iola’s junior varsity dropped a 25-20, 16-25, 15-12 match to Central Heights and a 25-15, 25-17 match to Wellsville.
The freshmen will be in Girard Thursday to take on Girard, Frontenac and Galena.
