Errors lead to losses for IHS junior varsity

GARNETT — Iola High’s junior varsity volleyball team dropped matches to Louisburg High and host Anderson County High on Thursday.
“We had too many unforced errors in the Louisburg match. We got down early and couldn’t get back on track,” said Casey Greenwood, IHS assistant coach on a 25-13, 25-8 loss.
Chanel Coyne put down seven kills and had two assisted blocks. Hannah Endicott had two kills and two assisted blocks. Katie Thompson, Breanna Stout and Karlie Lower each had a kill.
Mackenzie Weseloh had two set assists and two ace serves. Lower had two assists.
Endicott was credited with five digs while Thompson and Halie Cleaver each had three digs.
Greenwood said after the Fillies switched to a 5-1 offense with Weseloh setting the whole way, the girls adjusted well and were more successful against Anderson County.
“The girls battled back when we got down. I saw some good things but we still have a lot to work on,” Greenwood said.
Anderson County beat Iola 25-16, 26-24. Endicott and Coyne each had three kills while Stout and Thompson each had one kill. Thompson had one solo block.
Weseloh had five set assists, six digs and two ace serves. Thompson came up with seven digs and Halie Cleaver had six digs. Stout had five digs and two ace serves. Endicott had three digs and four ace serves.
