FORT SCOTT — Iola High’s Fillies committed 15 errors in 10 innings of play Monday. They had just eight hits in the same span of play.
The Fillies lost 11-0 in six innings and 17-2 in four innings to Fort Scott High’s Tigers. The losses put the Fillies at 2-12 in Southeast Kansas League play and 3-15 overall.
Iola has a home doubleheader against Pittsburg Thursday at Riverside Park to close out the regular season. Pittsburg (3-9, 4-12) plays tonight at Labette County, which clinched the SEK title last week and is undefeated in league play.
Next week the Fillies play in the Kansas Class 4A regional softball tournament at Osawatomie.
Breail Thompson pitched for Iola in the first game, She allowed seven hits, walked three and struck out three. Iola’s defense made seven errors.
Hitting a single each for Iola were Lauren Toney, Holly Schomaker, Libby Shay and Halie Cleaver.
Iola scored two runs in the second inning of the second game. It was 4-2 but Fort Scott pushed across eight runs in its half of the inning.
Leah Weir took the pitching loss, allowing 15 hits, walking one and striking out one. There were eight Iola errors in the game.
Shay doubled. Weir, B. Thompson and Schomaker each had a single.
