UNIONTOWN — Playing at home is always a good thing.
Uniontown High’s Eagles soared to two Three Rivers League volleyball wins Thursday. They beat Oswego 25-17, 25-14 and downed Altoona-Midway 25-5, 25-16.
“We had a great crowd and that helps us on the floor,” said Jackie Hall, Uniontown head coach.
“We had made some changes in our lineup since our last outing. We have gone to a 5-1 offense with Tayler Shook handling all the setting duties.”
Hall said they moved Lauren Rockhold to defensive specialist to assist in the Eagles’ back-row passing. The switches worked well, Hall said.
Against Oswego, Ashley Nietfeld served for 10 points plus led the net attack with three kills and three solo blocks. Hayden Rathbun had five kills. Shook had 18 set assists.
Hope Jurgensen served up 14 points in the win over Altoona-Midway. Rathbun delivered eight kills and Shook had 16 assists. Abby Dixon had a nine-point serving run in the match.
In junior varsity play, Uniontown defeated Altoona-Midway 25-10, 25-11, 25-13. Amber Bartlett and Britney Stokes each had 10 service points. Morgan Needham served eight points.
Emily Shinn had four kills. Stokes had three kills.
Uniontown’s junior varsity goes to Southeast-Cherokee Tuesday. The Eagle varsity is back in play next Thursday at Riverton.
