MORAN — Not much went right for Marmaton Valley High’s boys Friday in a 53-13 loss to Uniontown.
Despite a close 14-6 first quarter, the Wildcats could not hold on against the Eagles’ quick defense.
However, the worst enemy seemed to be the Wildcats themselves. Turnovers and fouls plagued the Wildcats for the entirety of the game, and their opponent capitalized on it.
Midway through the second quarter, the Wildcats had seven points — and seven fouls on the board. Their only scores of the quarter were off two free throws, one from Joey Jefferis and another from Keagan Boyd. The Eagles put up 14 more on the home team in the second, to go up 28-8 at the half.
The Eagles’ kept racking up the points on fast breaks and outside shots before the Wildcats knew what hit them.
A running clock in the fourth make quick work of the game.
Senior Micheal Genn did his best to keep the offense active on the court, and his efforts merited a seven-point high score for the team. He had half of the team’s field goals with a pair of three’s. Boyd followed with three points, Gage Adams had two and Jefferis had one.
The Wildcats face off against Northeast-Arma High Tuesday for their home tournament.
