Eagles edge Patriots

SHAWNEE — Playing a rare Saturday football game, Uniontown High’s Eagles came out on top 21-20 over host Christ Preparatory Academy of Overland Park.

A 31-yard touchdown run by Garrett Murrow in the third quarter put the Eagles back on top. The Patriots had taken the lead with a touchdown and two-point conversion in the third period.

Seth Sympson kicked his third extra point of the game to give the Eagles the one-point lead. Jordan Woods scored on a five-yard run in the first quarter and Zach Travis had a short plunge over the goal line in the second period.

Uniontown led 14-12 at halftime. The Eagles improved to 4-2 on the season.

Murrow finished with 130 yards rushing on 21 carries. Woods had 49 yards rushing. Travis, who was 3 of 9 for 27 yards passing, rushed for 38 yards.

Murrow and Brenton   Esslinger made nine tackles each. Max Labbe had eight tackles. Robert Kuns and Travis each made an interception.
