Eagles are winless after seven games

UNIONTOWN — Uniontown High’s baseball team is 0-7 on the 2012 season.

The Eagles dropped a Three Rivers League doubleheader Monday at home against Northeast High of Arma. Northeast won 15-11 and 12-2.

The double loss put the Eagles at 0-3 in TRL action. They lost 6-2 to St. Paul last Thursday when the second game was postponed at St. Paul because there are no lights on the field.

In the game with St. Paul, Garrett Murrow, Max Labbe and Jordan Woods each had a hit. John Kuns was the starter and pitched five innings. Woods and Mitchell Newman saw time on the mound in the sixth inning.

Uniontown opened the season at home March 27 against Yates Center on Dawson Field in Bronson. Yates Center won the pair of non-league games 10-3 and 19-5.

In the first game, Woods hit a three-run home run in the first innings. Woods had two singles and Newman had one single.

Yates Center built up a 11-3 lead then scored eight runs in the seventh. Uniontown used five pitchers starting with Murrow followed by Austin Jefferis, Labbe, Newman and Joe Barbosa.

Murrow had three singles while Jefferis and Woods each had two hits. Kuns had a single.

Uniontown plays at Oswego in league action Monday.
