BURLINGTON — Area track athletes competed at Thursday’s Southern Coffey County High Invitational track meet. The 12-team meet was held at Burlington High School’s track facility.
Kelli Wilkinson of Uniontown earned bronze medals in the 3200-meter run — 13 minutes, 47 seconds — and in the 1600-meter run in 6:35. Jana Wilkinson placed fourth in the 800-meter run in 2:57.
Abby Dixon placed fourth in the discus with a throw of 90 feet, 6 inches. She was sixth in the javelin with a distance of 90’11”.
Trenton Miller was the silver medalist in the boys’ discus with a throw of 134’5” for Uniontown. Carter Wood finished in a tie for sixth in the high jump at 5’5”.
Montana Beerbower was sixth in the boys’ 3200-meter run in 12:26.
“We had a better day than we did on Monday. Our kids really came out and competed well, still improving times and distances,” said Jackie Hall, Uniontown head coach.
Marmaton Valley was short-handed going into the meet. Head coach Jamie Stodgell said most of the junior and senior boys did not go because of issues.
Zach Louk took the fourth-place medal in the 800 meters. He ran the race in 2:11.
Carlos Gonzales finished fifth in the 200-meter dash. His time was 24.46 seconds.
Uniontown hosts its annual Uniontown High Invitational Monday.
