BUFFALO — Uniontown High’s Eagle teams dominated their hosts Tuesday in Three Rivers League action.
The Eagle boys rolled to a 56-31 win over Altoona-Midway High’s Jets. That puts them at 8-0 in the league and 14-4 overall
And it sets up a TRL showdown Friday in Uniontown between the Eagles and the Northeast High Vikings from Arma. The Vikings are 7-0 and 14-4.
Uniontown’s girls improved to 7-1 in TRL play with a commanding 62-14 win over the Jet girls. The Eagle girls are 12-6 overall and will finish second to Oswego, a 42-26 winner over St. Paul Tuesday.
Uniontown’s only league loss is to Oswego. Northeast comes to Uniontown Friday.
After leading just 10-7 at the end of the first quarter Tuesday, the Eagle boys took off on the Jets. They outscored them 17-3 and 15-6 in the next two periods.
Brenton Esslinger led the Eagles with 23 points. Zach Travis added 16 and Seth Sympson had 11 points.
Caleb DeNoon tossed in 14 points for Altoona-Midway.
The Eagle girls gave up just four points in the first half, leading 37-4 at intermission.
Uniontown had four players score in double figures led by Hayden Rathbun with 14 points. DaNisha Robinson and Hope Jurgensen each had 12 points. Jacy Ermel added 11 points.
Rathbun pulled down nine rebounds and handed out four assists. Jurgensen cleared eight rebounds. Ermel made five steals and had three blocked shots.
