Uniontown High’s girls and boys have stepped up into Kansas Class 3A competition this season. They were assigned the 2011 Kansas Class 3A Substate Tournament at Burlington next week.
The Eagle girls (9-10) were seeded No. 5 while the Eagle boys (5-14) take the No. 6 seed in their division.
Uniontown’s teams drew the Kansas City Christian teams in first-round action. The Eagles go to Prairie Village for a doubleheader at 6 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Tuesday.
The KCC girls are (9-10) and seeded fourth. The KCC boys were the No. 3 seed at 11-8.
Burlington High’s girls (16-4) and boys (18-2) drew top seeds in the substate. They will play a doubleheader at home Monday against West Franklin High’s teams, both girls and boys are 1-19.
On the girls’ side, the winner of the Uniontown-KCC game plays the winner of the Burlington-West Franklin game. Central Heights (16-4), seeded No. 2, hosts No. 7 Wellsville (4-15) Monday and No. 3 Frontenac (15-5) hosts Northeast-Arma (6-13).
Tuesday has the rest of the boys’ first round games. Second-seeded Central Heights hosts No. 7 Frontenac (4-16) and No. 4 Northeast-Arma (10-9) hosts No. 5 Wellsville (9-10).
The girls’ semifinals are Thursday at Burlington and the boys’ semifinals are Friday. The championship games are at 6 p.m., girls, and 7:30 p.m., boys, Saturday.
For substate tournament games, admission prices are set by Kansas State High School Activities Association. No school or league passes are honored at home or at Burlington High School, which is hosting the semifinals and finals on Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
Admission prices for first-round games are $5 for adults and $4 for children (K-12).
Prekindergarten age children are admitted free.
For semifinals and championship games at Burlington, admission prices are $6 for adults and $5 for children (K-12).
