RICHMOND — Uniontown High’s softball and baseball teams were overmatched Thursday. The Eagle teams lost single games to host Central Heights High’s Viking squads.
The Eagle girls lost 10-0 as the Vikings scored five runs in the second and five more in the fifth. Tayler Shook took the pitching loss, allowing seven hits, 10 walks, hitting one batter and striking out four.
Jessie Camac tripled and Hope Jurgensen singled. Those were the only hits for Uniontown.
The Eagle baseball team lost 12-2 in five innings. Jake Dawson took the loss and Tyler Hall pitched in relief.
The Eagles got singles from Hall, Ty Clayton, Max Labbe, Anthony Myers and Mitchell Newman. They scored single runs in the second and fourth innings.
Both UHS softball coach Alan Shinn and baseball coach Chris Woods pointed to their teams not being able to get hits and some shaky defensive play at times.
