PLEASANTON — It wasn’t a work of art, but Uniontown High’s girls still wrapped up their pre-Christmas schedule with a win Friday. The Uniontown boys also notched a win in the victory column, 42-28.
The Lady Eagles grabbed the early lead against Pleasanton and never looked back in a 45-30 win.
The victory lifts Uniontown’s record to 4-2 overall.
“We didn’t have our best stuff tonight, but we ground it out,” Uniontown head coach Ken Holt said.
The Lady Eagles led 13-7 after one period and 22-13 at the break. Their advantage stood at 33-22 after three periods.
Jacy Ermel led the way with 15 points, 11 rebounds and four blocks. Hope Jurgenson had three steals. Hayden Rathbun and Breanna Esslinger each handed out four assists.
ON THE BOYS’ side, Uniontown trailed 12-5 after one quarter and 18-13 at the break before taking control in the third quarter. A 19-8 Eagle run gave Uniontown 32-26 lead. Uniontown closed the game with a 10-2 run to seal the win.
Zach Travis scored a game-high 21 points to pace the Eagles. Brenton Esslinger added 10 points, Robert Kuns added six and Max Labbe and Dakota Wiley had two points apiece.
No Blu-Jay player ever scored in double figures in the boy’s game.
Uniontown returns to action Jan. 7 at Erie.
