Eagle girls, Wildcat boys win UHS Invitational titles

UNIONTOWN — Marmaton Valley High’s Wildcat boys placed in 15 of 18 events at Monday’s Uniontown High Invitational track meet. They posted nine gold medal performances.
At the end of the meet, the Wildcats had amassed 144 points to win the boys’ team title. Crest High’s Lancers were second with 103 and Uniontown High’s Eagles were third with 62 points.
Uniontown High’s Eagle girls racked up eight first place slots on their way to a team title. They had 112 points followed by Jayhawk-Linn with 104 points. Crest was third with 97 points and Marmaton Valley’s girls were fifth with 26 points.
Uniontown’s Abbie Smith continued on a tear in the 100-meter high hurdles. Her winning time of 15.9 seconds Monday was a new meet record. The old record was 16.2 seconds held by Clements of Humboldt in 1992.
Smith established another meet mark in the long jump. She took gold on a leap of 17 feet, 23⁄4 inches, which stratched out the 16’6” of Allen in 1997. UHS teammate Lauren Rockhold was fourth in the long jump at 13 feet.
Smith also won the 300-meter intermediate hurdles in 53.4 seconds. Rockhold was a double gold medal winner in the 100-meter (13.8 seconds) and 200-meter (31.57) dashes.
Jessica Schaaf claimed gold in the 1600-meter run in 7 minutes, 1 second. She was second in the 3200-meter run in 15:00.
Jacy Ermel won the discus with a throw of 97’9”. Abby Dixon placed fourth at 72’10” and Bethany Ericson was fifth at 57;61⁄2”. Ermel was second in the shot put with toss of 32’111⁄2” and Amelia Brown was sixth at 23’ 7⁄8”.
In the javelin, Ermel took fifth at 86’4” and Ericson was sixth at 74’4”.
Marmaton Valley’s Lydia Lance was second in the long jump with a distance of 13’71⁄2” and Mercedes Trollope was fifth at 12’61⁄2” Trollope was second in the triple jump at 28’81⁄2”.
In the 100-meter dash, Lance placed fifth in 15.16 seconds and Trollope was sixth in 15.28 seconds. Rachel Boyd was fourth in the shot put at 23’11” and sixth in the discus in 54’11”

On the boys’ side, Marmaton Valley’s Kurtis LaRue won the 110-meter high hurdles in 18.22 seconds. Dakota Wiley of Uniontown was fourth in 21.00.
LaRue  also claimed gold in the 300-meter in-termediate hurdles, in 46.53 seconds with Wiley in second at 50.00 seconds. Marmaton Valley’s Chase Dudley was third in 51.99.
Daylen Houk was the gold-medalist in the 200-meter dash in 26.06 seconds and Skyler Houk took third in 26.63.
Uniontown’s Ben Dixon ran second in the 100-meter dash in 12.09 seconds. S. Houk placed third in 12.11 seconds.
Zach Houk won the 800-meter run in 2:20.7. Uniontown’s Seth Sympson was third in 2:24.8.
Dixon was the gold medalist in the long jump with a leap of 20’ 11⁄2”. LaRue was second at 19’93⁄4” followed by teammates D. Houk in third at 19’91⁄2” and Tanner McNutt in fourth at 19’51⁄4”. Uniontown’s Zach Travis was sixth at 17’ 91⁄2”.
McNutt won the high jump, clearing the bar at 5’8”, for the Wildcats. Uniontown’s Sympson was fourth at 5’4”. Marmaton Valley’s Carlos Gonzales was fourth in the triple jump at 35’ 11⁄2”.
Dixon also struck gold on the track winning the 400-meter dash in 57.3 seconds. McNutt of Marmaton Valley was second in 57.85.
Uniontown’s Barry Mc-Anulty was third in the 3200-meter run in 17:32.12. McAnulty was sixth in the discus, 105’10”, behind teammate Trenton Miller at 109’10”.
Marmaton Valley’s Ka-leb Stroud placed third in the shot put with a toss of 38’3⁄4” and Ryan Stephens was fifth at 36’111⁄4”. Shawn Storrer took third in the javelin with a throw of 136 feet.
Marmaton Valley won all three relays plus the weight relay.
The 4×100-meter relay team of Gonzales, D. Houk, S. Houk and LaRue won in 52.2 seconds. The 4×800-meter relay team of Gonzales, Lucas Hamlin, Storrer and Louk won in 10:06. The 4×400-meter relay team of D. Houk, Gonzales, Storrer and McNutt won in 4:23.6.
The Wildcat weight relay team of Josh Kale, Devon Boyd, Stroud and Dudley won in 58.24 seconds.
