Eagle girls roll past Crest

HUMBOLDT – Uniontonw High’s Eagle girls cruised to a 50-16 win over Crest High’s Lady Lancers in the final round of tournament play Friday.
The Eagles went 2-1 in the 2011 Humboldt High’s Second Annual Emprise Bank Basketball Tournament. The Eagles are 3-1 on the season.
“This was a nice way for us to end the tournament,” said Ken Holt, Eagle head coach. “We got our pressure going early and got some easy looks.”
Uniontown led 30-9 at halftime. The Eagles shot 39 percent from the field and hit 6 of 11 from the free-throw line.
Tayler Shook paced the Eagles with 13 points and Hope Jurgensen added 10 points. Each one also had four steals and three assists.
Jurgensen and Mandie Ridge had five rebounds apiece.
“Tayler had a really good night. It’s a good way for us to get ready for a couple of tough games beore Christmas break,” Holt said.
The Eagles host St. Paul Tuesday.
The Lady Lancers remain winless. They host Central Heights Tuesday.
They shot 21 percent, 7 of 33, from the field and went 2 of 8 at the line Friday. Crest had 35 turnovers in the game.
Kurston Gilliland and Erica Holman each had four points for the Lady Lancers.
