Eagle girls dominate Oswego

UNIONTOWN — Being aggressive on offense paid off for Uniontown High’s softball team Monday. The Eagles dominated visiting Oswego High’s Indians in a Three Rivers League doubleheader.
The Eagles won the first game 12-2 behind a 12-hit attack. Uniontown scored six runs in the first inning.
Tayler Shook pitched a three-hitter for the win. She walked three and hit one batter while striking out five.
Shook also had an inside-the-park home run. Jessie Camac hit a single, double and  triple and Hope Jurgensen had two singles and a double.
Britney Stokes hit a single and a double and Emily Shinn had two singles. Torrie Hathaway had a single.
The Eagles won the second game 10-0 in five innings. They just steadily scored runs in each inning.
Taylor Wade threw a two-hit shutout for the Eagles. She struck out six.
Jurgensen led the offensive with two singles. Camac had a double. Hitting a single each were Tiffany Poyner, Sabrina McAnulty, Regan Weyant, Shook, Lakyn Coyan and Jessica Murrow.
The sweep put the Eagles at 5-1 for the season and 2-0 in league play. They play at Jayhawk-Linn Friday.
Last Friday, the Eagles scored two runs in the third inning to take a 5-3 lead over host Neodesha. The Eagles made that score stand up to get their third win of the season.
Shook was the winning pitcher, giving up five hits, 10 walks and hitting a batter. She struck out 12.
Camac had a two-run home run in the first inning and hit a single. Poyner had a double and a single while Jurgensen hit two singles. Shook and Shinn had a base hit apiece.
