UNIONTOWN — Games are supposed to go seven innings. But that didn’t happen in Monday’s Three Rivers League softball games between Uniontown High’s Eagles and Northeast High’s Lady Vikings.
The Eagles were not gracious hosts in that they blasted tehe Lady Vikings 12-2 in five innings to start the doubleheader. They needed just three innings to notch a 17-2 win in the second contest.
The Eagles improved to 4-0 in TRL play and 5-1 overall. They go to Oswego in league action next Monday.
Taylor Wade (3-0) gave up up three hits, walked one, hit one batter and struck out five in the first game for Uniontown.
The Eagles scored five runs in the first inning and five more in the fifth. In between they had single-run innings in the second and third frames. Northeast-Arma had two runs in the fourth.
Hope Jurgensen connected for a triple and two singles and Mindie Ridge had three singles.
Brittany Stokes and Jamie Dawson each hit two singles.
Tayler Shook doubled. Hitting a single each were Lakyn Coyan, Wade, Rayene Crystal and Jessica Murrow.
In the second game, Ridge threw a one-hitter, walking three and striking out four in three innings of work.
Uniontown led 3-0 after one then erupted for eight runs in the second and finished it off with a six-run third inning.
Dawson delivered two doubles while Ridge and Torrie Hathaway each had two singles. Coyan, Shook and Amber Bartlett had a double apiece. Stokes, Murrow and Haley Felt had a single each.
