LYNDON — Humboldt High’s Jada Dangerfield reintroduction to track and field was a humdinger.
Dangerfield, who hadn’t participated in track and field since middle school, opened the 2021 season Thursday by winning the girls shot put at the Lyndon Invitational.
Dangerfield’s throw went 33 feet, 1 inch.
Meanwhile, teammate Anna Goforth took third in the javelin at 94’3” and fifth in the shot put at 33’1”.
A pair of Lady Cub relay teams also brought home fifth-place finishes.
Jessica Myers, Madi White, Taylor Korte and Zoey Wilson teamed to take fifth in the 4×400 relay, finishing in 5 minutes, 5 seconds.
Wilson teamed with Lulu Melendez, Leah Mueller and Taylor Korte to grab fifth in the 4×800 relay at 12:22.
On the boys’ side, Drake Harrington took fourth in the long jump at 19’2.5” and in the 400-meter dash at 57.3 seconds.
Colton Johnson placed sixth in the high jump, clearing 5’8”.
Blake Walker and River Kaufman took fourth and sixth, respectively, in the shot put. Walker’s best mark went 38’2”; Kaufman’s 37’3”.
Levi McGowen, Colton Johnson, Sam Neeley and Drake Harrington took fourth in the 4×400 relay at 3:55.
