The Humboldt Middle School and High School cross country teams competed at Eureka on Saturday.
The middle-schoolers ran two-mile races while the high-schoolers ran 5Ks.
For the seventh-grade boys Javyn Hess set a personal record and came in second place with a time of 13:26.69. Eli Works came in 30th with a time of 17:33.43. For the girls Lulu Melendez (16:56.57) and Leah Mueller (17:32.26) came in 12th and 14th.
Lone eighth-grader Drew Wilhite was edged out by a runner from Olpe for the top spot, finishing second with a time of 12:08.17. He missed first by .05 seconds.
Zoey Wilson (17:33.43) and Alex Melendez (33:25.97) finished 29th and 46th in the varsity girls race.
Josh Vanatta led the way for the varsity boys, finishing 27th with a time of 20:06.78 while Drake Harrington finished right behind at 28th with a personal record time of 20:08.81.
Luke Yokum (21:43.78) finished 45th, Seth Barlow (22:17.69) finished 53rd and Thane Meadows (23:08.27) finished 60th
The Cubs will run next Thursday at the Tri-Valley League meet at Allen Community College.
