The Humboldt Cubs raced to a 23-3 lead at the end of the first quarter and never looked back during a 67-12 win over the Marmaton Valley Wildcats/ on Tuesday night.
Senior Conor Haviland scored a game-high 17 points 11 of which came in the first quarter during the rout. Quincy Adams and Ty Scharff combined to score MVs three first quarter points.
Haviland added a steal and a layup followed by back-to-back baskets from Gavin Page to push the lead to 31-4 early in the second quarter.
Drew Wilhite added a pair of free throws, before the Wildcats ended a 12-2 run with a basket from Dylan Drake to make it 35-7.
Humboldt went into the break with a 44-9 advantage.
It was more Cubs in the third quarter as Josh Hull knocked down consecutive baskets, followed by a 3-pointer from Isiah Coronado to push its lead to 51-9.
The Cubs Drake Harrington and Page forced two straight turnovers that ended in layups giving the home team a 55-11 lead. Humboldt outscored MV 11-2 in the quarter.
Harrington went on to knock down a 3-pointer to start the final quarter and they never looked back.
MV mustered only three points in the second half of play.
Wilhite finished the contest with 8 points, followed by Harrington with 7 points. Hull and Page each had six points, followed by Trey Sommer with four. Coronado scored three points, while Drake Hottenstein finished with two.
Adams led MV with five points, Sharff finished with 3, Drake had 2, while Robert Cook and Bo Knavel had one-point apiece.
