BURLINGTON — A pair of Humboldt High golfers dealt with some gusty winds in Burlington Tuesday.
William Kobold and Curt Shannon each teed off for the Cubs and battled constant 25 mph winds.
Regardless, Kobold improved his score by seven strokes from the same meet last season.
“Both boys improved their scores from the first meet of the year,” said Humboldt head coach Bret Hauser. “While it was tough playing conditions, I was pleased with how they shot and look forward to our next meet Monday in Erie.”
Kobold finished his afternoon shooting a 113, good for 29th.
Shannon placed in 34th after shooting a 130.
Team winner Santa Fe Trail was followed by Anderson County placing in second, Osage City in third place, Burlington in fourth and Wellsville finished in fifth place. Lane Workman of Santa Fe Trail finished in first place overall after stroking a 69. Anderson County’s Lane Richards placed second after shooting a 78 and Osage City’s Owen Bailey shot an 81 to secure third place.
With only two golfers, Humboldt did not qualify for a team score.
Humboldt tees off at Erie next Monday at 1 p.m.
