Humboldt High’s Cubs and Lady Cubs made school history this spring. The softball and baseball teams were undefeated Tri-Valley League champions and recorded the first-ever undefeated regular seasons for either HHS program.
The Cubs, who went on to take third in the Kansas Class 3A State Baseball Tournament, landed three players on the 2012 All-Tri-Valley League first team and one earned league honorable mention. The Lady Cubs had four players named to the 2012 All-Tri-Valley League softball first team and one on the honorable mention list.

Junior Nathan Whitcomb and sophomores Hunter Murrow and Grayson Pearish represented the Cubs on the TVL baseball first-team. Whitcomb pitched and played third base and Murrow was the Cubs’ shortstop. Pearish was also pitcher and third baseman.
Yates Center High’s senior pitcher Blake Francis was also a first-team selection.
Humboldt’s sophomore center fielder Caleb Vanatta received honorable mention.

On the honorable mention list were Humboldt senior center fielder Hannah McCall and Yates Center sophomore shortstop Courtney Arell.
