Cub lifters finish seventh overall in state championship

High School Powerlifting: Humboldt Cubs

CONWAY SPRINGS — Last Saturday, the Humboldt Power-lifting Team walked away from the 3A State Championship with a seventh-place finish for the boys and an 11th place finish for the girls.

The Cubs had eight athletes place in either individual events or place overall in their weight class. Three athletes placed in the top three overall in their weight class.

Senior Noah Johnson and junior Tucker Hurst finished second and third overall in the 198-pound weight class.

Johnson finished first overall in both the squat and the bench press while Hurst finished right behind him in second in both events.

Gabby Jackson also placed top three overall, finishing second at 105-pound class.

Jackson placed first in the squat and second in bench press and hang clean.

Dagen Goodner and Joe Murrow both made it to the podium finishing fourth and sixth overall at 181-pounds and Cole Murrow just barely missed out on a top-five finish at 242-pounds, finishing sixth overall.

Drake Harrington finished fifth overall at 123-pounds.

In individual events, Winter Snyder finished second in the squat at 148-pounds and Isiah Coronado finished third at 140-pounds
