CHERRYVALE — Humboldt High’s wrestlers picked up a busload of Tri-Valley League hardware Tuesday.
The Cub grapplers claimed five individual Tri-Valley League championships.
Cole Mathes, the second-ranked 170-pound wrestler in the state in Class 3-2-1A, claimed his title by pinning Aydin Haworth of Bluestem twice.
He was joined atop the medal stand by teammate Garren Goodner, who pinned Logan Squier of Bluestem and Radyn Martin of Caney Valley to win the 215-pound division.
The Lady Cubs had a similarly successful night on the mat.
Lilli Reeder won the TVL title at 105 pounds, pinning Addie Finley of Fredonia twice.
Taevyn Baylor had a spotless night at 155 pounds, pinning Tristin Ward of Cherryvale and Nevaeh Patridge of Caney Valley.
Humboldt’s Savannah Koch had to work a bit more to get her gold in the 235-pound category.
Koch pinned Mya Dee of Cherryvale in her first match before Dee returned the favor in the second go-around.
That set up a winner-take-all rubber match, which Koch won by pinning Dee at 3 minutes, 51 seconds.
Humboldt’s Curt Shannon took second at 120 pounds on the boys’ side. The Lady Cubs’ Carlie Weilert took second at 135 pounds.
