High School Track and Field: Humboldt Track Meet
Humboldt hosted its annual home track meet and the boys team finished first.
The Cubs scored 111 team points, 25 points ahead of second-place Burlington. The Lady Cubs finished fifth-overall with 65 points.
Collin Gillespie led the way for the Cubs, finishing first in both the high jump (510) and the 300-meter hurdles (45.96). He also finished second in the triple jump with a distance of 397 and was part of a 4×400 relay team along with Drake Harrington, Luke Yokum and Caleb Coronado that finished second (4:03.58).
The 4×800 team of Coronado, Yokum, Harrington and Seth Barlow finished first with a time of 9:19.79.
Coronado also finished second in the 800 with a time of 2:17.76 and Harrington finished in fourth place with a time of 2:17.76.
Luke Yokum finished fifth in the 1600 with a time of 5:23.
Chad Classen finished fourth in the 300-meter hurdles (51.56) and Thane Meadows finished sixth (52.28).
Isiah Coronado finished third in the 400 (54.82), third in the 200 (25.07) and fifth in the 100 (12.65).
In the throwing events, Noah Johnson took first in the javelin with a throw of 1492.5 which was a personal record for the senior. Johnson also finished third in the discus with a throw of 1149 and came in fourth in the shot put with a throw of 407.
Tucker Hurst finished second in the discus (1289) and the javelin (1492.5) and Cole Murrow finished sixth in the shot put with a distance of 358.
FOR THE GIRLS, Savanna Puckett was the only Lady Cub to finish first in an individual event by running a time of 1:03.31 in the 400 meters.
Puckett also finished fourth in the javelin with a distance of 1005.
The 4×100 team of Kay-lie Johnson, Zoey Wilson, Elizabeth Myers and Puckett finished first with a time of 53.44.
The 4×400 team of Johnson, Wilson, Jessica Myers and Bailey Goodell came in second with a time of 4:40.33 and the 4×800 relay team of Puckett, Jessica Myers, Elizabeth Myers and Goodell finished second, 11:28.49.
Individually, Elizabeth Myers finished third in the high jump (410 and fifth in the javelin (9811). Kaylie Johnson finished fifth in the triple jump with a distance of 350 and the long jump with a distance of 163.
