Humboldt baseball and softball pummeled Eureka on Monday for both teams’ 10th wins.

Baseball won 10-0 and 8-1 while softball won 14-4 in five innings in game one and 15-0 in game two in three innings.

Both teams are 10-0 and have cruised past every opponent.

Despite the final score disparity, Eureka actually led 4-2 after the first inning and both teams were tied at four after two innings in game one.

A nine-run third inning launched the Lady Cubs past Eureka and after a scoreless fourth inning, a run in the bottom of the fifth put the game away.

Kirsten Roush and Laken Hunter each had two hits and all but Maggie Johnson recorded a hit in the game despite Johnson scoring a run on a walk.

Starter Brooklyn Ellis got off to a rough start but recovered, allowing four runs on four hits and a walk with three strikeouts.

Things were much more simple in game two. Nine runs in the first and six more in the second for Humboldt made very quick work of the Tornados.

Morgan Mauk, Maggie Johnson, Kirsten Roush and Laken Hunter each had two hits while Mauk and McCall each had two stolen bases.

Ellis had a much better second outing, allowing two hits in the three-inning game.

FIFTY FEET away, Humboldt baseball wasn’t having quite the offensive output of the Lady Cubs, but their pitching and defense more than filled the void.

After an early run in the second inning, eight Cubs scored in the fourth to push their lead to nine. Humboldt was unable to get a game-ending run across in the bottom of the fifth but did so in the sixth.

Cooper Jaro got the start and the win, going 4.1 innings and allowing two hits and a walk with five strikeouts.

Dagen Goodner was on the mound in the final 1.2 innings, allowing just one hit while striking out three batters.

Goodner also had two hits along with Taylor Lassman and Kaiden Barnett.

Barnett and Conor Haviland each had two steals.
