Three area football players
to play in eight-man game
Dexter Wiley reported Wednesday to the 2011 Kansas High School All-Star Senior Friendship Bowl training camp.
Wiley, a 2011 Crest High School graduate, was selected to play in the Friendship Bowl game. The second annual all-star game is sponsored by The Neighborhood Academic and Athletic Association of Topeka.
The Friendship Bowl is at 6 p.m. Saturday at Hummer Sports Park in Topeka.
Wiley, a 5-10, 145-pound defensive back and wide receiver, has been selected for a second all-star game. Wiley along with two other area football players will play in the 2011 Kansas Eight-Man All-Star Game June 11 in Beloit.
Wiley and Crest teammate Thomas Dietrich were named to the Division I East team earlier this year. Dietrich had to withdraw from the game because of an injury.
Joining Wiley in Beloit will be Aaron Ludolph, a 6-3, 190-pound tight end and defensive end from Southern Coffey County High, and Justin Holeman, a 6-2, 200-pound offensive and defensive lineman from Marmaton Valley High. Russ Steinbrock of Clifton-Clyde High is the Eight-Man Division I East head coach.
The Eight-Man Division I all-star game is at 1:30 p.m. June 11 in Beloit. The Division II all-star game kicks off at 10 a.m,
Ticket prices for the eight-man all-star game are $10 for adults and $5 for kids, grades K-8.
