COLONY — Home-court advantage wasn’t enough for Crest High’s girls and boys Thursday.
The Lady Lancers and Lancers lost Three Rivers League games to visiting Jayhawk-Linn High’s Jayhawks. The Jayhawks beat the Lady Lancers 30-11. The Lancers dropped a 54-42 loss to the Jayhawk boys.
In the girls’ game, the Jayhawks held the Lady Lancers scoreless in the first half, leading 17-0 at the break. Crest got five points in the third and six in the fourth.
Erica Holman led the Lady Lancers with five points. Scoring two points each were Shayla Stephens, Madison Kellar and Lyndia Bradshaw.
Jayhawk-Linn was led by Baylea White with 12 points.
The Jayhawks pushed out to an 18-10 lead over the Lancers. They held a 29-22 halftime advantage.
“We came out of the gates flat and lackadaisical,” said Travis Hermreck, Crest boys’ head coach. “They got their heads up and made coming back difficult but I was happy with our effort to get back in the game and have a shot.”
After three quarters of play, the Jayhawks were in front 41-33. Jayhawk-Linn thwarted a Lancer comeback with a 13-9 scoring edge in the final eight minutes.
Kyle Hammond fired in 12 points for Crest. Jordan Morton and Jayden Bowen each added seven points and Chris Brallier had six points.
Brock Ellis added five. Cole Bowen scored three and Jesse Boone two.
“We need to find ourselves and figure out what we need to do to become what we want to be,” Hermreck said.
Austin Coleman paced the Jayhawks with 17 points. Jake Rowe chipped in with 13 and Ben Rowe had 11 points.
Hermreck said the Lancer junior verity figured out a way to get a win after a tough season. He didn’t report the score but said, “I’m very proud of them.”
Crest was idle Friday night. The Lancer teams travel to Melvern Tuesday for non-league action against Marais Des Cygnes Valley High.
