UNIONTOWN — So far, so great for Crest High’s volleyball team.
The Lady Lancers kept their Three Rivers League record spotless at 7-0 with a doubleheader sweep of Chetopa and Uniontown.
The wins lift Crest’s record to 13-13 overall on the season.
“There was a sense of confidence and teamwork that hasn’t always been consistently there,” Crest head coach Abigail Hermreck said. “We have grown so much since the beginning of the season, recovering faster from a mistake, rallying around a player getting down, and just flat out not giving up.”
The Lady Lancers rolled past Chetopa, 25-11 in both sets.
The Uniontown match was a bit closer, but the Lady Lancers still had plenty to stay on top, 25-16 and 25-22.
“I was very proud of the girls and how well they played as a team,” Hermreck said.
With the wins, Crest now sets its sights on a herculean doubleheader Tuesday at St. Paul, with Marmaton Valley also in town.
“Both of those teams are playing well,” Hermreck said. “Tuesday is going to be a big night.”
Junior McKenna Hammond and senior Lindsey Godderz were perfect from the service line, a combined 57-of-57.
Hammond had eight ace serves to go with 10 kills, 16 assists and six digs. Godderz added two aces and nine digs.
Sophomore Kayla Hermreck racked up 18 kills to go with 10 assists, seven digs and a pair of blocks.
Others contributing:
Senior Anna Hermreck, one kill, one assist and two digs.
Junior Kamryn Luedke, 1 of 2 serving with three digs.
