CHEROKEE — The Crest High boys lost to Southeast on Friday, 69-37.

The Lancers (9-5) turned the ball over 14 times and were outrebounded, 26-21, in the loss.

Crest was outscored 41-21 in the first half and 28-16 in the second half.

“We for sure struggled with their size and athleticism as a whole,” Crest head coach Dakotah Sporing said. “They are a very good team and played really well Friday night. We got down early on and were not able to fight back out of the hole we dug ourselves.”

Stetson Setter and Jack White each tallied 10 points while Ryan Golden followed with seven points for the Lancers.

Setter shot four-for-seven from the floor in the game and led the scoring charge. Setter also made four turnovers while Karter Miller and Golden each had three turnovers.

While the Lancers were outrebounded by Southeast, Setter led with six boards while Ethan Godderz, Golden and Miller each grabbed four rebounds.

“I knew they would be aggressive on the offensive glass and they were able to hurt us early on by getting the few shots they missed,” Sporing said. “Missing very few shots did not give the opportunity to grab rebounds though.”

Setter led defensively when he snatched three steals and Miller stepped in front for a pair of steals.

Overall, Crest was outshot from the floor, 35% to 39%, as well as from three-point land, 21% to 47%.

Crest gears up to host Burlingame on Tuesday at 6 p.m.
