EMPORIA — Crest Middle School athletes picked up five gold medals Wednesday as part of the Neosho Rapids Invitational, hosted by Emporia State University.

On the boys’ side, Gage Adams won the shot put with a throw of 40 feet, 2½ inches, while teaming with Chad Classen, Kadyn Utley and Caleb Stephens to win the 4×100-meter relay in 53.62 seconds.

As for the Lady Lancers, Regan Godderz won the 100-meter dash in 15.53 seconds, Shyla McCutchen was first in the 1600-meter run at 6 minutes, 32 seconds, and Godderz, Breyanna Benjamin, Camryn Strickler and Kim Madrid won the 4×100 relay with a time of 1:01.

Others competing:

Adams was second in the high jump, clearing 5 feet, and third in the 100-meter dash at 13.41 seconds.

Classen took second in the 75-meter hurdles at 13.72 seconds and teamed with Tavyn Springston, Jose Madrid and Stephens to finish second in the 4×200-meter relay at 1:55. Springston, Madrid, Utley and  Bradlee Bennett teamed to finish second in the 4×400-meter relay at 4:33.

Strickler took third in the long jump at 12’7”, while Kim Madrid was third in the 75 hurdles in 15.44 seconds. Godderz, Benjmain, Strickler and Madrid were second in the 4×200 relay in 2:09.
