CMS boys, MVJH girls notch wins

COLONY – Crest Middle School’s boys and Marmaton Valley Junior High’s girls collected wins Thursday night. Crest hosted Marmaton Valley in a doubleheader.
Marmaton Valley’s girls led 22-10 at halftime and outscored Crest 14-0 in the third quarter. The Wildcats beat the Lady Lancers 46-17.
Lindsey McNeil and Mackenzie Tynon each tossed in 14 points for Marmaton Valley. Ashlynn Pinkerton had eight points while Misty Storrer and Kyla Drake each scored four points. Magie Stevenson had two points.
Laurel Godderz scored eight points for Crest. Miranda Golden had four points.
“The girls worked the ball to get good shots,” said Brenda Mills, MVJH girls’ head coach. “Our girls played the game we asked them to and worked hard throughout.”
In a two-quarter B-team game, Marmaton Valley’s girls won 16-10. Storrer, Drake and Trinitee Gutierrez each had four points for the Wildcats while NaLea Alexander and Brooklynn Newman added two points each. Crest was led by Godderz with eight points.
After a close first half with Marmaton Valley’s boys leading 14-13, Crest took over in the second half. The Lancers outscored the Wildcats 7-2 in the third quarter and 15-6 in the fourth to win 35-22.
Crest (9-1) got 15 points from Kellen Ramsey and nine from Hunter Frazell. Evan Godderz added four. Brandon Brallier and Garrett Sipe each had three points and Kaden Strickler scored one.
Brady Newman paced the Wildcats with eight points. Keagan Boyd and Gage Adams each scored six points. Chad Starliper had two points.
Crest won the boys’ B-team game 26-6. Dylan Young led the way with 13 points and Jake Pinney tossed in 11. Oscar Madrid had two points.
Scoring two points each for Marmaton Valley were Cody Wilson, Jake Kale and Sheldon Anderson.
