Iola High senior Crystal Clay has had a passion for dance all her life. She finished up a three-year stint as cheerleader at IHS and wanted more.
So Wednesday, Clay signed a letter of intent to be part of the award-winning dance team, the FireStarters, at Allen County Community College. Clay had studied dance at Iola’s Classique Dance Studio the past 10 years.
“The ACCC program is good and it is close to home. The opportunity to continue dancing while I finish my general education classes was something I couldn’t pass up,” Clay said.
Clay, who has some college courses already on her education resume, said she plans to be a neo-natal nurse.
“Crystal came out for tryouts and she showcased all the skills I need in a freshman dancer,” said Mindy Covey, ACCC dance and cheer coach.
“Plus it’s great to have a talented local student in our program and coming to the school.”
Clay is the daughter of Tom and Pat Clay of Colony.
