ACC’s women came away with a huge win over undefeated Pratt Community College Monday thanks to the contributions of Claudia Zahui, who scored two goals in the 3-0 romp.

The win secured Allen Community College as Jayhawk Conference champs for a second year in a row.

Sophomore Yasmin Evans scored ACC’s other goal.

The game was hard fought and gritty throughout. With only two officials, there was the potential for multiple penalties to be missed, but on the whole, it was well officiated.

Zahui, Evans, and Autumn Wyatt each had three shots on goal of ACC’s 10 attempts, good for a .300 scoring percentage. Allen only allowed Pratt four shots on goal, with no Pratt player taking more than one shot. Mia Evans had three corner kicks.

“Overall, the girls came out and really wanted it,” said Allen County head coach Jeremy McGinnis. “A lot of the girls were really nervous. I told them to embrace it. It’s one of those things where if you are nervous it means you really care and that’s a good thing.”

McGinnis said he can see the girls adopt his strategy.

“My words are becoming their words,” McGinnis said. “That’s when you know they are really buying into it. If your players really buy into the way you coach, that is when good things happen.”

Both Zahui and Evans  are part of a bigger wave of students from England making their way to Allen. Currently, there are seven players on Allen’s roster from England.

Thursday, Allen will travel to Southeast Community College in Beatrice, Neb., for its regular season finale. A home playoff game for Allen is still well in the cards for the Lady Red Devils.
