Kansas City Chiefs wide receiver De’Anthony Thomas was arrested early Saturday morning in Humboldt on possession of marijuana and drug paraphernalia.

According to the Allen County Sheriff’s Department, Thomas was driving down Ninth Street just after 1 a.m. going 46 mph in a 30 mph speed zone when deputies pulled him over.

After smelling what they believed to be marijuana, officers searched the car.

Thomas bonded out shortly after his arrest.

The fifth-year wide receiver had just finished a one-year contract with the Chiefs this past season on the injured reserve list after fracturing his leg in October.

In the first five weeks of the season, Thomas had three catches for 29 yards and a touchdown.

The Kansas City Star’s Brooke Pryor contacted a Chiefs’ spokesperson on Sunday who said the team was aware of the incident but had no further comment.

Thomas will head into free agency in March.
