Allen County Community College sophomore Rob Carlson finished last week’s NJCAA Division II National Golf Tournament in a tie for 60th place.
For the four-day event, Carlson shot a 306.
There was a field of 127 players in the national tournament held at Goose Pond Colony Golf Course in Scottsboro, Ala.
“Rob played pretty well with rounds of 77, 78, 76 and 75. He didn’t putt as well as he wanted to in the national tournament,” said Mike Hayes, ACCC golf coach.
Carlson was in the middle of the pack through most of the 72-hole event on the par 72 course. He opened in a tie for 56th then dropped back a bit in the second round to a tie for 72nd.
Shooting a 76 on Thursday put Carlson up in a tie for 67th. The Topeka native moved up to 60th on the final day by carding a 75.
Carlson placed 49th at the 2010 NJCAA Division II National Tournament.
Filip Timmerman of John A Logan Community College in Ill. won the 2011 national title with a 280. He led the Volunteers to the team  championship.
John A. Logan combined for a 1,153 team score for the four rounds of golf.
