WINFIELD — Opening Jayhawk Conference golf action Monday, the Allen County Community College Red Devils weren’t able to put together a strong team showing.
Sophomores Rob Carlson and Tim Stinnett did have good individual performances at the Jayhawk Conference designated golf tournament. It was the first of three this fall. The conference has three more designated tournaments in the spring season.
Carlson turned in the best round of the tournament with a 68 in the second 18 holes played at Quail Ridge Golf Course. Carlson had eight birdies in the round.
Carlson finished with a 147 for the 36-hole tournament. He placed sixth. Sam Schulte of Hutchinson won the tournament with a 141, leading the Blue Dragons to the team title with a 578.
Stinnett shot rounds of 79 and 78 for a 157 to finish 21st. Casey Bettis carded a 168 (80-88) followed by Drew Stevenson at 186 (96-90) and Tyler Roth at 194 (96-98).
Allen County finished eighth as a team with a 658.
“Rob and Tim performed very well again. As a team we must get better results from our other players,” said Mike Hayes, ACCC golf coach.
The Red Devils play in a tournament hosted by William Jewel in Liberty, Mo., Monday.
