COLONY -— Madison High’s Bulldogs were unleashed Friday against Crest High’s Lancers. The top-ranked Bulldogs dominated the Lancers 52-0.
The game ended at halftime. The Lancers fell to 1-3 overall as the Bulldogs improved to 4-0.
“We showed our youth and lack of experience tonight,” said Brent Smith, Crest head coach of the home loss.
“Take nothing away from Madison as the No. 1 team in Division I Eight-man football in Kansas as they are physical and execute well. Our kids battled the whole game.”
Smith said he looks for his team to get back on track next week. The Lancers open Kansas Eight-Man Division I, District 2 play at Chetopa.
Madison scored 38 points in the first quarter. The Bulldogs closed the door with two touchdowns in the second period.
Crest was held ot 20 yards rushing on 13 carries. Kyle Hammond had 19 yards on 10 hauls and was 2 of 7 passing for 50 yards.
Jordan Morton completed 2 of 8 passes for 20 yards, both to Hammond. Morton caught a 35-yard pass and Cole Bowen caught one for 15 yards.
Jesse Boone and Hammond each recorded five tackles. Morton had four tackles.
Chris Brallier punted four times for Crest for 114 yards — 28.5 yard average.
