PLEASANTON — Marmaton Valley High’s boys have taken their lumps on the basketball court this season, but have shown improvement as well.
Tuesday offered the latest glimpse on the young Wildcat squad.
Marmaton Valley fell, 59-42, to host Pleasanton, but showed how close the team is to reaching the victory column.
Three players scored at least seven points, enough to keep MV within striking distance of the lead.
Pleasanton led 13-9 after one quarter and 27-17 at the break. A big Blu-Jay third quarter was the key. Pleasanton outscored the Wildcats 20-8 in the period.
Marmaton Valley ended the game on a 17-12 run.
Quincy Adams paced the Wildcats with a double-double, 15 points and 13 rebounds, to go along with two steals.
Dylan Drake was next with 11 points and three assists. Evan Kent added seven points. Robert Cook had four assists and three steals.
Dale Gillespie scored 23 to lead the Blu-Jays, including five 3-pointers..
