LE ROY—Two poor offensive quarters Tuesday night cost the Southern Coffey County High the game as the Titan boys’ basketball team fell to Burlingame High’s Bearcats 64-40 on their home floor.
Right off the gate it was a bumpy ride for the Titans, getting outscored by the Bearcats 17-8 in the opening period.
But a resilient effort and a no-quit attitude had Southern Coffey County trading baskets with Burlingame in the second period. With each team managing 13 second-period points, the Titans trailed 30-21 at the break.
Despite maintaining its first half effort into the third, Southern Coffey County let the lead swell to 15 by the end of the period.
Down 53-38 to start the final period, the Titan offense went cold, mustering a mere two points to the Bearcats 11. And that was all she wrote.
The game’s leading scorer was Bearcat Parker Lee with 21 points on four three-pointers and four two-point field goals. Aaron True led the Titan offense with 13 points. Teammates Scott Fischer and Dusty Watts had seven and six points respectively.
